Dr. Papageorgiou: Lena my dear, you look great! But you’ve always been the prettiest German-American I’ve ever seen.
Josalyn A: I’m happy to return the compliment, you pretty Cologne Greek. Nice to see you. What a coincidence that we bumped into each other here at Zurich Airport, almost by chance.
Dr. Papageorgiou: And now we’re sitting in the lounge drinking a few glasses of red wine together.
Josalyn A: You told me that you had opened a clinic for plastic and aesthetic surgery in Bern.
Dr. Papageorgiou: Yes, I’ve been jetting to Switzerland several times a month since September 2023.
Josalyn A: What is your focus there?
Dr. Papageorgiou: Well, I offer a very broad spectrum, but about 60% of the procedures are liposuctions, 20% are tightening operations on the body and 20% are facial surgery such as facelifts, upper eyelid lifts, etc. Basically the same as in Rhodes. But now to you. We got to know each other through a mutual friend when you were on the road as a DJ. Back then, mainly in Cologne, Hamburg and Berlin. That was in the late 90s, and you were studying law at the same time. So you’re a lawyer with many years of DJ experience. Has your nightlife experience helped you in any way in your current job?
Josalyn A: Yes, of course. In nightlife, you quickly learn to assess people. The inner life of someone can be deduced from body language alone. In addition, I myself have learned to approach people in a more relaxed and fearless way. This also takes the fear out of my clients and helps to build a healthy relationship between me and the client through uncomplicated, open communication.
Dr. Papageorgiou: Yes, that’s exactly how I see it. An open and relaxed conversation at eye level is best for everyone. Lena, what are your main areas of focus?
Josalyn A: It turned out that my first major cases were in the area of criminal law, certainly also because of my many years in the nightlife business. I work in New York. There is enough nightlife and crime in NY City. It was fun, but also a bit stressful because it often has to be done quickly as the pressure on the client is enormous.
Dr. Papageorgiou: And this pressure is then also passed on to you.
Josalyn A: Yes, exactly, that’s why I reoriented myself and am now something of a divorce lawyer.
Dr. Papageorgiou: But you’re divorced yourself.
Josalyn A: You see, so I have first-hand experience of divorce.
Dr. Papageorgiou: I’m not divorced, so I can’t speak to that. Why do most couples get divorced? I mean the divorce rate today has exploded in the last few decades.
Josalyn A: That’s a very complex question and difficult to answer.
Dr. Papageorgiou: Give it a try.
Josalyn A: In a world and atmosphere, I’m talking about both sexes now, in which self-fulfilment, visually, materially, financially and sexually is at the top of the agenda, the importance of the partnership remains in second place. Roughly speaking: me first, then us. This is of course a difficult prerequisite for maintaining and deepening a partnership.
Dr. Papageorgiou: You see, you’ve answered a very complex question briefly and very clearly. You’re not just pretty but also clever!
Josalyn A.: And do many divorced people come to you for treatment?
Dr. Papageorgiou: There are a lot of divorced people, so I also have a lot of divorced patients. But it’s clear that people want to get back into shape after a separation. For most men, liposuction and an upper eyelid lift are sufficient, for women it is usually more complex after a pregnancy. Wait, I’ll get us another red wine…. So, cheers.
Josalyn A: Thank you. What do divorce and plastic surgery have in common?
Dr. Papageorgiou: Most plastic surgeons are divorced… Well, now you’re asking me a difficult question.
Josalyn A.: Give it a try.
Dr. Papageorgiou: Similar to a lawyer, we help our patients to get rid of something that bothers them. For example, in an upper eyelid lift we remove sagging excess skin or in liposuction the patient gets rid of excess fatty tissue.
Josalyn A: Well, your answer isn’t really that good.
Dr. Papageorgiou: Oh come on, it gets hard after three glasses of wine.
Josalyn A.: Never mind, at least you are pretty!
Dr. Papageorgiou: I’ll leave that as the last sentence. Cheers Bella.
Josalyn A: Cheers Bello.
